Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were contacted by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then located numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.

City officials said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

An important official stated the attack made him without words and had to be addressed promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
